Indian MEA S Jaishankar raised the issue of inefficiencies at US Consulates in India and the family separation that it is causing with his counterpart Sec. Blinken. This was one of the rare occasions where Indian government had to step in to help their citizens who are victims of American red tape. Clearly a sign that US consulates have stooped new low.
Don Heflin tried to do a FB live with curated questions trying to explain the delay but in the end lied even more.
He claimed that the visa delays at Indian consulates were pretty much same as elsewhere. He also then in his arrogance claimed that Indian delays must be compared with other large consulates such as Brazil. (This is something even Sec. Blinken said during his join presser with MEA Jaishankar. Clearly he was fed wrong info.)
His lie was quickly exposed by many folks.
4/5 Why are the Indian wait times so long?
Don Heflin: “You have to compare them to the wait times in large embassies like Mexico City, Brasilia or Colombia. They’re about this long too”
A blatant lie?! For student / work visas, these countries have < 1 month waits vs 1-2yrs. pic.twitter.com/dbL69pq7mU
